 ## Algebra A Math: Writing Linear Equations

This topic teaches the student how to write linear equations given information about the line. This series of five lessons provides the student with the tools required to create linear equations in two variables given information about the line.

The student will learn techniques that will help them model linear equations given information on the equation. They also learn the midpoint formula.

### Writing Linear Equations: Slope and Point

In this lesson, the student learns how to write the linear equation of a line given the slope of the line and a point that is on the line. The lesson teaches the student how to write the line in slope-intercept form and solve for the y-intercept given the values of the point.

### Writing Linear Equations: Two Points

This lesson shows the student how to determine the equation of a line given two points that fall on that line. The student is reminded how to determine the slope given two points. Then, the student sees how they can use the slope that they calculated to reduce the problem to the example from the previous lesson.

### Point and Parallel Line

The student learns how to find the equation of a line given a point on that line and the equation of a line parallel to the equation. The student remembers that they can find the slope of the line from the slope of the given parallel line. Then, they solve the problem as they did in the first lesson in this series.

### Point and Perpendicular Line

The student learns how to find the equation of a line given a point on the line and the equation of a line perpendicular of the asked for equation. The student is reminded how to find the slope of the desired equation by using the slope of the perpendicular line. Then, they solve the equation as they did in the first lesson in this series.

### The Midpoint Formula

This lesson teaches the student the midpoint formula. The student is shown how, given two points, they can determine a point.
